Spilia is situated 2 km from Kolymvari
Kolymvari , which is at the edge of the Rodopu Peninsula, 22 km from Chania
Chania center and 30 km from the airport of Chania. It’s location, near the junction of the national road, allows access to Chania in about 20 minutes.
The village of Spilia is named after the Cave of Ai-Yiannis Erimitis
Cave of Ai-Yiannis Erimitis which is to be found in the west part of the village on the hill above both Villa and Cottage, on an impressive site of great historical importance with it’s purported Healing Waters and exceptional views of the olives groves, the sea and the White Mountains.
Dominating the village is the Church of Panayia Myrtidiotissa
Church of Panayia Myrtidiotissa, whilst a short distance away is a Spring and the dense vegetation of extremely high Plane Trees, that are centuries old.
Under the trees is a very pleasant and locally run taverna offering traditional food.
Close by, there are 3 small mini-markets where you will find provisions; fresh bread, fruit and vegetables and indispensable articles.

Kolymvari (5 minutes by car) you will find the Iera Moni Gonias Monastery
Iera Moni Gonias Monastery and the Orthodox Academy of Crete
